Alan Jackson captured the life of an aspiring country star in his classic 1990 video, “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow.” With a tip of the hat to his father’s radio and his mother’s worrying, the upbeat, autobiographical tune was Jackson’s biggest hit to date at that point. Watching the video now, it’s hard to imagine Jackson ever having to audition for a gig. Naturally the bartender hires him on the spot — and says he’s got something special.
Now that’s an understatement. Since releasing his debut album, Here in the Real World, on February 27, 1990, Jackson has accrued 50 Top 10 country singles and won countless awards. This spring he’s on the road for a 25th anniversary tour. Next stop? A show in Augusta, Georgia, about 200 miles from his humble beginnings in Newnan.
