Don Williams’ comforting baritone is well-suited to “I’ll Be Here in the Morning,” an ode to sticking around with the one you love. Written by Townes Van Zandt, the poetic song is a fine introduction for Williams’ newest album, Reflections, arriving March 11.
A Country Music Hall of Fame member, Williams is content to live his life out of the spotlight, but by listening to Reflections, you can get a pretty clear picture of what’s important to him — integrity, hard work and faith. Those cornerstones are framed by the understated production of Garth Fundis, who is always careful to let the music’s message shine through.
“The only description I’ve ever had for songs I choose to do is that they affect me emotionally and that, hopefully, they have something to say that will touch other people,” Williams says.
