The Barefoot Movement Can Count on “Sheepherder”

One of the most promising bands on the bluegrass scene, the Barefoot Movement kicks off their newest album with a sprightly instrumental, “Sheepherder.” Although the youthful quartet is based in East Tennessee, they detoured through Nashville last fall to play the cheerful tune for CMT Edge.

By the way, the group returns to Music City on Feb. 19 to perform on the weekly Music City Roots show. The low-key, acoustic vibe of that series should be an ideal showcase for Figures of the Year, a satisfying project of original music (such as “Second Time Around”) the band released independently in 2013. They’ve also confirmed a set at this year’s Merlefest in Wilkesboro, N.C.

Gather the herd and check out the CMT Edge live performance of the Barefoot Movement’s “Sheepherder.”
