The Sweetback Sisters Bring “Santa Claus” to Town

The Sweetback Sisters gave themselves a really cool present last year when they indulged in their first holiday album, Country Christmas Sing-Along Spectacular.

“I’d say it was pretty much the most fun record we’ve made,” singer Emily Miller told CMT Edge upon the album’s release. “It was ridiculously fun, actually. It’s kind of freeing to do something as a side project like this. When we make our regular records, we’re really trying to forge our way in the world of country music. I think with a Christmas record, you can let loose a little more.”

The Brooklyn-based band will be spreading the cheer this month with a sack full of appearances in the northeastern U.S. And this year’s holiday tour — their fifth annual jaunt — features a saxophone and pedal steel, too. After a few hot toddies, you’ll be rockin’ around the Christmas tree.
