Here’s a song I was humming to myself on the day after Thanksgiving: “Pie for Breakfast” by the Brothers Comatose. Although the melody is merry and bright, the inspiration for the song might surprise you. Gio Beneditti wrote it one dreary morning on tour, sitting in a Seattle diner, feeling lonely and missing his newborn daughter.
Based in the Bay Area, these upbeat guys are wrapping up a long tour on Monday night (Dec. 9) at the White Horse in Austin. After a few more California dates later this month, they’ll ring in the New Year at the famous San Francisco club, Slim’s. Now that’s a sweet ending.
