Even though the melody is cheerful and upbeat, Nicki Bluhm & the Gramblers’ “Hey Stranger” is kind of a bummer. We’ve all been there — just trying to get past a breakup and all the symptoms that go with it. (Sleepless nights, empty bottles, etc.)
Fortunately, Bluhm’s warm voice is like a sonic hug — comforting, sincere and always welcome — while the band lends a rich arrangement, excellent harmony and maybe even some moral support.
The personable band is based in the San Francisco area, so we hooked them during a rare Nashville appearance at the Americana Music Festival. Get acquainted with this cool CMT Edge performance of Nicki Bluhm & the Gramblers’ “Hey Stranger.”
