Ray Charles’ love of country music is well documented, starting with 1962’s landmark album, Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music. But did you know he once recorded “Ring of Fire”?

In 1970, Charles included the track on the album Love Country Style, and now it makes its way onto a new CD/DVD set titled Ray Charles Forever. The project coincides with Charles’ tribute stamp from the U.S. Postal Service’s Music Icons Forever series. The stamp arrives Monday (Sept. 23), the day Charles would have turned 83.

On Tuesday, Ray Charles Forever will be delivered to post offices nationwide, through wind, rain, heat and gloom of night. The project features 12 remastered tracks, one previously unreleased song (“They Can’t Take That Away From Me”) and 20 minutes of live performances on the DVD. The diverse collection stretches from pop classics like “A Song for You” to the patriotic “America the Beautiful” to his unique take on country music.
