It’s a true pleasure to hear Lee Ann Womack’s beautiful country voice again. Her exquisite rendition of Paul McCartney’s “Let ‘Em In” is a highlight of a new compilation, Let Us In Americana. The understated arrangement lets her sterling vocal shine — and that rich pedal steel from Jim Hoke would make anybody open the door.

Let Us In Americana was recorded in memory of Linda McCartney, the musician and health advocate who died of breast cancer in 1998. (The McCartneys’ band, Wings, scored an international pop hit with this thoughtful song in 1976.) Along with Womack, guests on the project include Will Hoge, Jim Lauderdale, Holly Williams and many more. Proceeds benefit the Women and Cancer Fund, a charitable organization established in Ms. McCartney’s name.
