Sons of Fathers Dig Into “Roots & Vine”

As a duo, David Beck and Paul Cauthen of the band Sons of Fathers have keen insight into the alchemy of a partnership. In their video for “Roots and Vine,” the Texas folk-rockers use spiraling harmonies and propulsive strumming to show that the whole is often greater than the sum of its parts. Roots and vines eventually lead to wine, to use their intoxicating example. The same idea is often true in romance, where a passionate argument can easily turn in another direction. That’s the knife-edged emotional space that Sons of Fathers are occupying, and for the video, they find a feisty young couple living the same way. Check out Sons of Fathers’ “Roots and Vine.”
