Darin and Brooke Aldridge Find a “Wildflower” in Bluegrass

Darin and Brooke Aldridge may have picked “Wildflower” for its poetic message of remaining true to each other. Or maybe they were drawn to the elegant melody which lends itself beautifully to an acoustic arrangement. Either way, I’m delighted that this song — written and originally recorded by Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson — has taken root in bluegrass.

In particular, this lyric reminds me of people I’ve known: “I’m an old dog/Hard to love/And even harder to change.” You know, not me — somebody else. … Um, well, as I was saying…

“Wildflower” anchored the Aldridges’ album, So Much In Between, a few years ago. With winter behind us, though, it seems right to shine a light on it again. Enjoy Darin and Brooke Aldridge’s “Wildflower.”
