Sarah Jarosz Makes “Kathy’s Song” Her Own

Sarah Jarosz is already a favorite at bluegrass festivals and listening rooms. Now this Austin native has captured that intimate vibe with Live at the Troubadour, a five-song CD that arrives April 20 for Record Store Day. During her show at the famed L.A. club, Jarosz accompanied herself on acoustic guitar for a lovely rendition of “Kathy’s Song,” written by Paul Simon and originally recorded on Simon & Garfunkel’s 1966 Sounds of Silence album. Over the years, Eva Cassidy and Shawn Colvin have also rendered sweet versions of this ballad which offers one of the prettiest melodies in Simon’s catalog. Jarosz’s yearning alto suits the song beautifully too. Enjoy the CMT Edge premiere of Sarah Jarosz’s “Kathy’s Song.”
