Chris Knight Takes the Law Into His Own Hands on “Framed”

Chris Knight’s vivid lyrics and plain-spoken delivery have always felt a little dangerous and angry to me — from his 1998 self-titled debut album to last year’s politically-charged Little Victories. Originally hailing from Slaughters, Ky. — which is probably the most badass hometown name ever — Knight often writes about the fiercely independent lifestyle he was born and raised with. It’s a lifestyle that in some cases leads to — or requires, depending how you look at it — a certain amount of violence, and Knight doesn’t shy away. One of his earliest songs was “Framed,” where Knight insists he was set up to take the fall when his wife’s lover turns up dead, only to confess later it was him all along. He’s not remorseful about it, though. After all, that guy was hell-bound the minute he took up with another man’s wife. Check out Knight’s music video, “Framed.”
