Tracy Lawrence Provided Solid “Alibis” 20 Years Ago

Twenty years ago this week, Tracy Lawrence began his steady climb to No. 1 with “Alibis,” a fine cheating song written by Randy Boudreaux. Indeed there are a lot of reasons why this single satisfied classic country fans — the weeping fiddles, the twang in Lawrence’s baritone, the strong wife who knows every trick in the book. Of course, time marches on, and Lawrence is still actively recording. He’s returning to country radio this spring with a new single called “Stop, Drop and Roll,” from an album that’s due this summer. Check out “Alibis.”
