Alabama Shakes Stay Humble After Grammy Nods

In just a year and a-half, Alabama Shakes have gone from playing for tiny crowds in Decatur, Ala., to grabbing two Grammy nominations and touring the world. However, that international success is highly unlikely to go to their heads.

“I believe it’s important to stay humble,” lead singer Brittany Howard told reporters backstage at the Grammy nominations concert in Nashville. “So I don’t walk around saying, ‘Hey, don’t honk your horn at me. I’m Grammy-nominated!’ I don’t say things like that. I’m just happy, and my nana’s happy.”

Alabama Shakes are on the Grammy ballot for best new artist as well as best rock performance for “Hold On.” Check out the dynamic music video.
