As residents of Portland, Ore., Black Prairie and Sallie Ford will have to wait longer than almost anyone else in America for Santa Claus to show up on Christmas — you know, except for kids in Alaska and Hawaii. So to channel their excitement, the rockabilly singer and the bluegrass-inspired band gave an alt-country makeover to “(Everybody’s Waiting for) The Man With the Bag.” The classic song from 1950 ends up with a bit of a marching feel, while the slowed-down intro gets kind of spooky.
