Here we get a taste of Dwight Yoakam’s upcoming project 3 Pears with a mournful waltz called “It’s Never Alright.” Co-written with the Pistol Annies’ Ashley Monroe, the track regrets that once love has moved on, things might get better, but they’ll never be as happy as they should. Yoakam says that as vocalists, he and Monroe share a similar approach to songwriting. In fact, this song was completed in about four hours. Take a listen and see how the collaboration turned out. Yoakam releases 3 Pears, his first album of new material since 2005, on Sept. 18.
